About

Welcome to In the Addict!

Do you struggle with porn or sex addiction?

Maybe you are a family member or a good friend of such an addict.

Whichever is the case, this blog can help you understand this addiction a lot better.

You will also find here some very specific information and tools for sobriety and emotional recovery.

My name is Daniel Fund, and I have been providing psychotherapy for adults for the past 15 years. I have met people from all walks of life and had the privilege of joining their healing journey.

But the difficulty I am most interested in tackling is addiction. More specifically, pornography and sex addiction are issues faced by many of my clients over the years.

My fascination with addiction and its multilayered structure of shame and trauma is not purely philosophical or professional.

A close family member of mine had gone all the way down that rabbit hole and stood on the brink of death. I, too, have dealt with trauma and emotional suffering.

So I know that a lot of effort goes into healing. Emotional exploration, emotional awareness, emotional expression, and emotional transformation are all cornerstones of recovery.

And therefore, the process of emotional recovery is also a cornerstone of this blog.

As a therapist and social worker, I have dedicated myself to meeting fellow suffering humans and joining them in their depths of agony.

It is a great honor and privilege for me whenever I witness a client ignite an internal flame of hope and determination to slowly climb out into the light.

Thankfully, my professional journey also led me to stumble upon the ideas and theories of emotion-focused therapy (EFT).

EFT is an evidence-based therapy model with a long history of emotion research backing its success. It is also being used by therapists who treat addictions. However, to date, the effectiveness of this model for addictions, let alone sex and porn addiction, has not yet been researched.

Having witnessed the power of emotional transformation in my own life and in the lives of many clients, I decided to do this research myself. I am enrolled in a Ph.D. program, and for the first time, we will be examining the effectiveness of EFT for sex and porn addicts!

In conclusion, this blog is a product of many people’s experiences and journeys, from emotional exile to redemption. From isolation to intimate connection and love. And from an utter sense of uselessness to self-compassion and empowerment.

If you feel that any of this speaks to you, please join me!

Sincerely yours,

Daniel Fund
